Speak-Out for Scouting

A Fun opportunity for Scouts to share their Scouting story!

Parents and Leaders, ask your Scouts:
Do you have what it takes to Speak-Out for Scouting?
Want to let others know how Scouting has changed your life? If you answered “YES!” here’s your chance to learn the skills and proper etiquette of public speaking to address Community and Business Leaders that support Scouting, about your Boy Scouts of America experiences at our luncheon and reception events.

As a Youth Speaker, you will:
– serve as the Scout representative and give a speech during an event program.
– showcase your involvement in Scouting by speaking at luncheons, dinners and receptions for the Greater New York Councils and educate the public about what the Boy Scouts of America means to the children of New York City.
– be counseled by BSA Staff to help develop your Scouting story to share.
– help to meet merit badge requirements in communications, or add on to academic record.

This year, our annual Speak-Out for Scouting/Youth Speaker Program Event is scheduled for:

Date: Friday, February 25, 2011 – this date is scheduled during Midwinter Recess.
Time: 9am – 12 noon
Where: Boy Scouts of America Office, Empire State Building. 4th Floor (Suite 430)
**Light refreshments will be served**

Plan to learn about connecting with an audience, handling the jitters, gaining poise and confidence, speech writing, voice, diction and more!

If you are interested in attending this program event, please contact Shaun Caruana at Scaruana@bsa-gnyc.org or by phone at 1-212-651-2944 and we will send you additional details.
