The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancers, and the Light The Night Walk is one of our biggest fundraising campaigns, with Walks taking place in over 200 communities each Fall.
The New York City chapter hosts three of these Walks every year in Queens, Staten Island, and Manhattan. Last year, the New York City participants raised $3.5 MILLION to support the mission of LLS: to cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, and Hodgkin’s Disease and to improve the quality of life of patients.
We would not be able to host such successful events without the help of hundreds of volunteers. Volunteers at the Walk help with everything from setting up and cleaning up, to distributing t-shirts and food, to helping spread the word about our mission and services.
As a long time Girl Scout and sister to an Eagle Scout, I look forward to having the opportunity to work with troops from the area! I have attached our volunteer application, which has more information about the different volunteer areas and their general time commitments. Please share this information with anyone you think may be interested.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
All the best,
Volunteer Coordinator, Light The Night
