The Staten Island Detachment, of the Marine Corps League, is a collection point for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. A request has been made for units on Staten Island to help with this program by donating toys, and dropping them off at the Detachment’s headquarters, 47 Ontario Avenue, Sunnyside, Staten Island.
“If you could, the detachments Toys 4 Tots program could use more donated toys for young boys and girls. Last year we did not have enough to go around.
If any Cub or Boy Scout Troop as individuals or together could stop by the detachment and drop off a toy it really would make a difference to others.

Troop 5 Our Lady Star of the Sea Church
Joining the ranks of such notables as former President Gerald Ford, film director Steven Speilberg and astronaut Neil Armstrong, Andrew Meketa of Troop 5, passed his Eagle Board of Review and is Troop 5’s latest Eagle Scout. Andrew’s Eagle Project consisted of coordinating the building of shelves at the Father Durmgoole Council of the Knights of Columbus in Richmondtown. Andrew is not your typical scout. Andrew is a special needs scout and Andrew is proof of the firm belief we have at Troop 5 that being disabled does not mean unable.

The Aquehonga District Membership Committee has published some new documents which are designed to be Adult facing documents.
The Pack Parent Guide is a good generic reference for new Scout parents so they understand more about the program and what to expect moving forward.
The Webelos Parents Orientation Guide is a valuable resource for parents to understand the difference between the Tiger, Wolf and Bear programs which their boys have been in prior to joining a Webelos Den. This document has had some content locked down due to the standardized nature of the material, but feel free to comment if you need something changed so an updated document can be presented.
If you have any comments, suggestions or documents which you’ve used successfully please send them to District Membership Committee Chair Matt Gaor at email@example.com.
