Dear Friends of Scouting,
Throughout the last century, the Boy Scouts of America have helped develop character, citizenship and personal fitness values in the youth of our community. Through the Scouting program, we emphasize service to Community, Country and God. As a past Cubmaster, and a parent of a current scout, I have witnessed firsthand the benefits that the Scouting program has instilled in our youth today.
Young men and women all over Staten Island participate in Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venturing Crews. These Scout Units are run by countless dedicated adult volunteers. They provide our youth with exciting and challenging experiences which help teach them new skills, make new friends and allows them to have fun in a safe environment.
As in years past, the Staten Island Boy Scouts look to the local community businesses and organizations for support in the form of advertisement in our yearly Calendar Journal. This calendar helps raise funds to support the Scouting program on Staten Island, while also providing direct advertising for supporters. The funds raised help support various activities for the Scouts such as the annual Island Pinewood Derby and Camp-o-ree. The Calendar contains all Scouting events on Staten Island throughout the year, and is the key vehicle used to reach out to the 3,500 Staten Island youth & adults registered in the program.
On behalf of the 3,500 registered scouters on Staten Island, I thank you for your support, which will allow us to provide better services to our youth. Please return the enclosed journal form and ad as soon as possible. If you have any questions, or would like to view a previous year’s District Calendar, please contact the Calendar Journal Coordinator Greg Mustoe at (212) 651-2863 or GMustoe@bsa-gnyc.org . Your investment in Scouting will go a long way to help support the future of our fine youth on Staten Island today.
Yours in Scouting,
