On a short note this year we believe the request for the Toys for Tots program will be greater than last year with less toys collected.
If the packs and the troops can collect toys at the meetings and have a few leaders and scouts drop them off at the detachment it would be helpful.

Gladys Schweiger, a powerful voice among Staten Island’s non-profit leaders, dies
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Gladys Schweiger, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Staten Island, who was a tireless advocate for the borough’s youth, seniors, the frail, and less fortunate, died Wednesday morning in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. She was 72 years old.
Mrs. Schweiger’s firm but compassionate leadership guided and influenced a number of community-based non-profit organizations in the borough including the Boy Scouts, Red Cross and the Rotary Club, as well as the Community School Board, A registered nurse by profession, Mrs. Schweiger began her career in 1960 as a nurse at the former Richmond Memorial Hospital in Prince’s Bay. She spent 18 years of her nursing career at this location. She worked with former Borough President Ralph Lamberti for a brief time as his non-profit cultural liaison. She moved on to the Staten Island Chapter of the American Red Cross for 10 years before taking over as executive director of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Staten Island.
