Pouch Camp – Phase II – 1 February 2013

Dear Members of the Committee,

We are in the process of setting up our next Committee meeting. It will be some time in February . . . keep you posted.

The Trust for Public Land has been working very hard to secure the necessary funding for the protection of Phase II of the camp.

As we still have the deadline of July of this year, it is imperative that we help in this effort by writing letters [preferred], sending emails, making phone calls, personal contacts, with our State elected officials and/or their staff.

The fiscal year 2014 budget allocates funds from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund for Phase II.

We need to let out elected officials know that we urge them to support this.

As an aside, you can be assured that this money will have no impact on Super Storm Sandy relief, just as the Harbor Estuary monies, administered by the PA, had nothing to do with tolls. It is very important that we are able to convey this fact to people, in case it comes up in discussion. In fact, the protection of Pouch actually helps in flood management.

I have attached two documents:

One, is a letter, drafted by the Trust for Public Land, to be sent to our state elected officials. Please customize it with your own thoughts;

Two, the contact information for our state elected officials. [Both below]

Please distribute to your organization members, your friends, families and neighbors.

Time is of the essence, as the state budget is being negotiated at this time.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you,
Kathy Vorwick
for the Save Pouch Camp Committee

P.S. I would also appreciate copies, if that is feasible.
