The National Park Service, Gateway Recreation Area has asked if we can communicate to all Staten Island Scouting Units that are seeking volunteers to assist them within the next two or three weeks.
They have acquired 4,000 culms of Beach grass that need to be planted at Miller Field as part of a conservation effort.
Scouts could credit this as Community Service and/or taking part in a Conservation Project.

See flyer below!
You can register your unit at: http://www.bsa-gnyc.org/event/1513561
The 2014 Raft-o-ree is a Council sponsored activity under the direction of the Council Activities Committee, with a goal to host a target of ~200 attendees for the weekend. Attendees will raft the Delaware River from Skinners Falls to TMR Landing, with a stop for lunch at the half way point of Narrowsburg. Transportation and rafting will be provided by Landers River Trips. Accommodations for campers will be at Camp Keowa. A Saturday evening campfire show will provide awards and fellowship for attendees.
St. John’s Baseball Scout night is on Saturday, April 26th. It is also St. John’s Health and Wellness Day so there will be tons of activities and free food for the groups to enjoy. As always, the Scouts will be invited on the field to participate in the National Anthem and starting lineups.
