BALOO & OWLS Training in a single course. Sat. Nov. 15, 2014@Pouch. Pre-registration is required.

You asked for it and now we have it. One course. One day. Two fantastic learning experiences. Any adult who has an interest in camping and learning outdoor skills can take this course. Designed for leaders who are in charge of Pack and Webelos overnight activities, this course covers the rules, guidelines, and safety considerations for “Pack Family Camping” and “Webelos Campouts”. It teaches the why and how of Cub Scout camping; planning, equipment, meal preparation, fire safety, stoves, and lanterns; first aid and sanitation; nature hikes, games, and campfire programs. Participants will receive both BALOO and OWLS certification. Local Tour Permits require that a Pack must have a BALOO-certified adult leader attend Cub Scout Campouts and overnight activities.

This is a great course for Tiger, Cub or Webelos parents who have little or no camping experience. Itis an entry level outdoor training with emphasis on outdoor activities and skills pertaining to and geared toward Cub Scout camping and outdoor experiences.

Cost: $10 per person

Campmaster Training – Alpine – 2014

Greetings

Registration is open for any Registered Adult Scouter who is interested in Becoming a GNYC Campmaster.

The Campmaster Training session will be held at Camp Alpine Saturday March 15th from 9 AM – 2 PM.

You must be a BSA registered adult with current YPT status to request a Campmaster assignment.

Cub Leader Specific Training Cancelled for 15 February

Dear Scouters

Due to the forecast of additional snow tonight into tomorrow, we have decided that in the interest of safety in trying to get to Berlin Lodge, we are CANCELLING THE TRAINING SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW MORNING.

The tentative new date for CLST is Saturday, March 22nd.  When I have confirmation of that date I will advise all of you.

All monies paid towards CLST will be credited for that new date.  If you can’t make it then, I will be happy to refund your money.  Please let me know.

Spider-Man “Community Super Hero” Scouts/Students Days on Broadway – Saturday January 25, 2014 and Saturday May 17, 2014! Workshop from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM – Performance at 2:00PM on Broadway!

Toys for Tots – 2014

The annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program is underway. The Staten Island Detachment, of the Marine Corps League, is looking for help from Staten Island Packs, Troops, Crews, and Posts to assist.

Scouting Units are asked to bring unwrapped toys, for boys or girls, aged 1 to 12, to the Detachment headquarters:
