Campmaster Training – Alpine – 2014

Greetings

Registration is open for any Registered Adult Scouter who is interested in Becoming a GNYC Campmaster.

The Campmaster Training session will be held at Camp Alpine Saturday March 15th from 9 AM – 2 PM.

You must be a BSA registered adult with current YPT status to request a Campmaster assignment.

On Saturday, March 8th, 2014, GNYC will be having its 6th Annual Camping Expo in Alpine Scout Camp.

We are happy to have representation from our National High Adventure Bases. (Northern Tier, Philmont, and our newest adventure base, The Summit in West Virginia). Please come out and support the event while having a great opportunity to learn and become empowered! Our goal is to get units to spice up their camping programs and benefit from what GNYC has to offer.

Online registration is now open for the 2014 G.N.Y.C. Camp Promotions Orientation/Camp Promotions Recognition Banquet at Alpine Scout Camp, Saturday, January 4, 2014.  The CPO runs from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm and the Banquet from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Cost is $8 per youth if paid by October 20th.
After October 20th, cost is $10 per youth.
Price Includes: Patch and access to all activities, games and program supplies.
Note: Youth must be age 5 and older. Pumpkins will be given out to pre-registered youth.

 

GNYC Steak Out – 7 September 2013

This year’s Steak-Out event will take place Saturday, September 7th from 9am-1:30pm at the glorious Camp Alpine in Alpine, NJ. We’re featuring some fantastic new topics this year including new Recruitment Tools, Popcorn Kickoff, Big Apple Jambo Q&A, plus a STEM Info-session!

And how could I forget- a steak lunch for everyone (options available for non-meat eaters as well)!

GNYC is pleased to announce the Steak-Out is BACK!

For the low, low cost of $7

The 2012 GNYC Steak-Out will take place at Camp Alpine on Saturday, September 8th with registration starting at 8:30am.

Steak-Out is your opportunity to get the inside scoop on all Council-wide activities & trainings, meet Council Volunteer leadership, receive invaluable insight into the coming Scouting year, and have a steak lunch with your fellow Scouters.

Pre-register online before August 20th for the discounted rate of just $7, after that it bumps back up to the full fee of $15 per person.

BALOO Training – GNYC – 2012

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation

When: 12 May, 2012 AND 13 October, 2012
Where: Alpine Scout Camp
Cost: $10 per person

BALOO is a one day training event that introduces leaders and parents to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping.

Participants who complete this training course will:

• Understand the focus of the Cub Scout level of the BSA outdoor program
• Gain the skills needed to plan and carry out a successful Cub Scout level overnight activity
• Learn more about the resources available from the Greater New York Councils and BSA for carrying out outdoor activities.

The Greater New York Campmaster Corps is a group of Scouters who help out at Camp Alpine, Pouch Camp and TMR on weekends.

Qualifications:

  • …21 years old
  • ..a registered Scouter with the BSA
  • …willing to donate one or more weekends during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring camping seasons
  • …willing to take the Campmaster Training Course offered at Camp Alpine or Pouch Camp
