BALOO & OWLS Training in a single course. Sat. Nov. 15, 2014@Pouch. Pre-registration is required.

You asked for it and now we have it. One course. One day. Two fantastic learning experiences. Any adult who has an interest in camping and learning outdoor skills can take this course. Designed for leaders who are in charge of Pack and Webelos overnight activities, this course covers the rules, guidelines, and safety considerations for “Pack Family Camping” and “Webelos Campouts”. It teaches the why and how of Cub Scout camping; planning, equipment, meal preparation, fire safety, stoves, and lanterns; first aid and sanitation; nature hikes, games, and campfire programs. Participants will receive both BALOO and OWLS certification. Local Tour Permits require that a Pack must have a BALOO-certified adult leader attend Cub Scout Campouts and overnight activities.

This is a great course for Tiger, Cub or Webelos parents who have little or no camping experience. Itis an entry level outdoor training with emphasis on outdoor activities and skills pertaining to and geared toward Cub Scout camping and outdoor experiences.

GNYC Council Pinewood Derby Finals – Save the Date – 28 June 2014

The Greater New York Councils Pinewood Derby finals are to be held 28 June, 2014 at Yankee Stadium.

1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners from the Aquehonga district pinewood derby, from Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Jr. &Sr Webelos are invited.

This year each Scout attendee will receive a commemorative 2014 Pinewood Derby Patch! Oooh, aaah, special!

The Staten Island Mall has moved us to the courtyard outside of the JC Penney store, not in the center court as in years past. Please let  your Scouts know and make announcements during your Den Meetings.

Shooting Sports Weekend – 2014

Yes it’s that time of the year again when Tom and I start planning for our upcoming Shooting Sports Weekends. To help us in our planning process we’re asking units that have participated in the past, as well as units that have expressed an interest in joining us in 2014, to please complete the attached “Commitment Form” and return same to both Tom and I by November 15, 2013.
