Eagle Scout Reunion and Hall of Fame – February 2014

Dear Fellow Eagle Scout:

On Thursday, February 6, 2014 the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America will be re-introducing its’ Eagle Scout Hall of Fame “A Gathering of Eagles” reunion reception and induction ceremony. This renewed tradition here in New York City will welcome, celebrate and reconnect adult Eagle Scouts to Scouting service.

Training for Scouters in the Metro NYC Area – 2014

Attached, is a list of training options in the NYC Metro Area.  It includes our council and many surrounding councils.

Scout Day with the Brooklyn Nets – Sunday, March 30th

24 lucky Scouts will head to the court for the National Anthem, another 6 will greet the Net’s as they arrive on the “High-Five Line”, and 1 Scout will walk away with an autographed Jason Kidd ball!!! Winners will be chosen at random from amongst all Scouts who are registered for the game.

Normandy Camporee Fundraiser

Everyone is Invited

GNYC is sending youth and adults to Normandy to join the International Camporee commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion, and Pathfinder District is sending 2 youth.

FUND RAISER NORMANDY

In order to help the contingent meet expenses, a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraising event will be held at Berlin Lodge, at Pouch Camp,  on February 22nd, from 5-8 PM.

12 Years and older – $10
5-11 Years – $5
4 Years and under – No cost

Bring friends and family for a fun-filled event.

Aquehonga District Pinewood Derby – February 9 2014

A few changes for the 2014 year:

This year each Scout attendee will receive a commemorative 2014 Pinewood Derby Patch! Oooh, aaah, special!

The Staten Island Mall has moved us to the courtyard outside of the JC Penney store, not in the center court as in years past. Please let  your Scouts know and make announcements during your Den Meetings.

Cub Leader Specific Training – 15 February 2014

Who Should Attend?

Cub Scout Leader Specific is a required training for all new Pack leaders -Tiger, Cub Scout (Wolf & Bear), Webelos, Cubmaster, & Pack Committee. This Training covers the topics of den and pack meeting planning, pack finance and management, special activity planning and secrets of successful leaders.. The session includes special breakouts for each leader position. The pre-course requirement is that every person should take “This is Scouting” offered on line at myscouting.org (after you register or sign on – training drop down – e-learning – This is Scouting).
